Access to Student Records Policy
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is the primary law that regulates access to student education records at colleges and universities receiving federal financial assistance. This act applies to BYU as a recipient of federal funds under the Pell Grant and Guaranteed Student Loan programs. BYU must comply with FERPA; hence, this policy and the Access to Student Records Procedures govern access to student education records and identifies the procedures students may follow to obtain or restrict access to their education records.
