Traffic and Parking Policy

BYU provides parking for visitors, employees, and students. Visitor parking areas are provided near the Museum of Art and the J. Reuben Clark Law School. Parking in any other location requires registration with BYU.

Parking on BYU property is regulated and enforced by the Parking Services Office, and vehicle operators are responsible to obey the established parking rules. BYU maintains the right to enforce traffic and parking regulations, and may grant, revoke, or refuse parking privileges at its discretion. Unless otherwise stated by policy, traffic sign, or other communication, the university follows and enforces driving, traffic, and other laws as stated in the Utah Uniform Traffic Code.

The university assumes no responsibility for the care or protection of, or damage to, any motor vehicle or its contents at any time it is operated on, parked on, or removed from university property. The university reserves the right to fine, impound, or immobilize at the owner's/driver's expense any vehicle in violation of parking regulations.

Oversized vehicles, such as recreational vehicles and motorhomes, are restricted from parking on campus, and overnight parking of any vehicle is generally prohibited. Exceptions may be made by the Parking Services Office.

BYU encourages the use of bicycles and provides bicycle parking. Bicycles must be operated in a safe manner and be parked at bicycle racks. Unless otherwise specified, bicycles are not allowed in buildings. Traffic rules apply to bicycles as well as motor vehicles.

The use of skateboards, rollerblades, roller skates, scooters and like devices are prohibited anywhere on campus.

Traffic and parking citations and enforcement actions are administered according to procedures posted on the website of BYU Security. Please refer to the BYU Security website for details regarding parking and traffic rules and regulations.
