Devotionals and Forum Assemblies Policy

The university’s devotionals and forum assemblies support BYU’s mission to “provide a period of intensive learning in a stimulating setting where a commitment to excellence is expected and the full realization of human potential is pursued” (Mission Statement). Devotionals, in particular, are designed to spiritually strengthen the campus community (see Aims of a BYU Education).

All employees and students are expected to attend devotionals and forum assemblies, which are held on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. in the Mountain Time Zone (the “Tuesday 11 o’clock hour”).

To allow the campus community to attend devotionals and forum assemblies, meetings should not be held and university offices and services are closed during the Tuesday 11 o’clock hour. Only President’s Council can grant exceptions. See the Devotionals and Forum Assemblies Procedures.
